Long ago, fascinated by the natural beauty of Kathmandu, Lord Shiva left Mount Kailash and came to this serene land. Here, He took the form of a deer with three horns and wandered around. When Shiva disappeared, Brahma and Vishnu began searching for Him. Through yogic vision, Brahma recognized that the deer with three horns was Shiva Himself. As Brahma tried to catch Him, the deer’s antlers broke into three pieces. One piece fell at this spot, which later became famous as Pashupatinath.
