Located in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand, Shri Kedarnath Dham is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Surrounded by the Himalayas, this sacred Dham has been a major centre of Shiva worship, penance, repentance and spiritual practice for centuries. According to a religious belief associated with the Mahabharata, after the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas set out in search of Lord Shiva to seek atonement for the deaths of their relatives. Lord Shiva eventually blessed them in the Kedarnath region.
