Religious traditions associated with Gayasura and Lord Vishnu, along with the ancestral traditions connected with Lord Shri Ram and Mata Sita, give Gaya a special place in Pitru worship. As part of this Anushthan, 15 chapters of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita will be recited at Muktinath for the ancestors. Til Tarpan is considered an important part of Pitru Karma. Water and black sesame seeds are offered while remembering one’s ancestors and praying for their satisfaction and peace. Deepdaan symbolises light and an auspicious spiritual path. Lamps will be offered in honour of the ancestors with prayers for their spiritual peace, Sadgati and ancestral blessings.
