During Pitru Paksha, there is a tradition of performing Shraddh for departed ancestors according to the Tithi of their passing. In this special Anushthan, ancestors associated with both Chaturthi and Panchami Tithis will be remembered with devotion. Chaturthi Shraddh is performed for ancestors who passed away on Chaturthi Tithi, while Panchami Shraddh is also traditionally associated with departed family members who passed away before marriage.
