The Navami Tithi of Pitru Paksha holds special significance as Matru Navami. Located at an altitude of approximately 3,800 metres in Nepal’s Mustang region, Muktinath Temple is a sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is revered as Mukti Kshetra, as Lord Vishnu is associated with liberation from sins, worldly bonds and the cycle of birth and death.
The sacred Shaligram stones found in the Kali Gandaki River are revered in the Vaishnava tradition as manifestations of Lord Vishnu. The 108 sacred water spouts near the temple are associated with spiritual purification, cleansing and surrender. Revered in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions, Muktinath is an ancient and unique spiritual pilgrimage site.
