Maa Baglamukhi Temple is a famous and powerful Tantric Shaktipeeth located near Ujjain in Nalkheda, on the banks of the Lakhundar River. The temple is dedicated to the three-faced Trishakti form of Maa Baglamukhi. It is believed that this temple has existed since the Dwapar Yuga and is highly miraculous. Along with Maa Baglamukhi, idols of Lakshmi, Krishna, Hanuman, Bhairav, and Saraswati are also established here.
According to belief, this temple was established by Yudhishthira on the advice of Lord Krishna for victory in the Mahabharata war. It is also believed that the idol of Maa Baglamukhi here is self-manifested (Swayambhu). Ancient Tantric scriptures mention ten Mahavidyas, and Baglamukhi is one of them. The temple is especially known for yellow-colored worship (Peetambara). Special rituals and havans are performed here for enemy destruction, court cases, and removal of tantric obstacles.
