When Bharani Nakshatra occurs during Pitru Paksha, the ancestral rituals performed on this occasion are traditionally known as Mahabharani Shraddh. In religious and astrological traditions, Yamadev is regarded as the presiding deity of Bharani Nakshatra and is associated with death and Dharma.
For this reason, the occurrence of Bharani Nakshatra during Pitru Paksha is considered especially significant for remembering one’s ancestors and performing Shraddh, Tarpan and prayers for Pitru Shanti. Muktinath Temple, located in the Himalayan region of Nepal, is a highly revered sacred Teerth associated in Hindu tradition with Lord Vishnu in his Mukti Narayan form. The name “Muktinath” itself signifies the Lord of Liberation, which is why this sacred Dham is especially associated with prayers for Moksha and spiritual liberation.
Muktinath is counted among the important sacred sites of the Vaishnava tradition.
