One special feature is that the temple remains open for 6 months and closed for 6 months every year. Kedarnath Dham is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, situated amidst the high Himalayan mountain ranges. Its importance has been established since ancient times. The part of Shiva that appeared in Kedarnath is worshipped today as the famous Kedarnath temple. It is said that the Pandavas first built this temple, which later disappeared with time, and Adi Guru Shankaracharya rebuilt it. It is believed that darshan and worship at Kedarnath lead to relief from all sufferings and open the path to salvation.
