According to the Padma Purana, observing Yogini Ekadashi and worshipping Lord Vishnu on this sacred day is believed to grant the spiritual merit equivalent to feeding 88,000 Brahmins.
The story of Yogini Ekadashi describes how Lord Vishnu’s grace relieved Hemamali from leprosy and the effects of a curse. Therefore, this Ekadashi is considered especially auspicious for praying for relief from physical ailments and suffering.
Through the recitation of the Vishnu Sahasranama and the offering of sacred Tulsi leaves, devotees pray for Lord Vishnu’s special blessings, protection, stability, and auspiciousness in life.
Offering Tulsi leaves with devotion to Lord Vishnu is believed to fulfill righteous desires while blessing devotees with prosperity, financial stability, and family happiness.
This sacred ritual is performed for the health, protection, spiritual growth, and overall well-being of the devotee and their family. It is believed that Lord Vishnu’s grace brings positivity, inner contentment, and spiritual balance into one’s life.
In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi is regarded as one of the most sacred and spiritually rewarding days dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. Among all Ekadashis, Yogini Ekadashi holds a unique spiritual significance. According to the Padma Purana, observing this Ekadashi and worshipping Lord Vishnu with devotion is believed to bestow the spiritual merit equivalent to feeding 88,000 Brahmins. It is also believed to help reduce the effects of past sins, bring relief from physical suffering, and promote spiritual purification.
According to the scriptures, Hemamali, the celestial gardener of Lord Kubera, was cursed by a sage and afflicted with leprosy after neglecting his sacred duties. Following the guidance of Sage Markandeya, Hemamali sincerely observed Yogini Ekadashi and worshipped Lord Vishnu with complete devotion. Through the Lord’s grace, he was freed from the curse, relieved of his illness, and restored to his former honor. Since then, Yogini Ekadashi has been regarded as a highly auspicious day for seeking relief from physical ailments, the effects of sins, and spiritual suffering.
On this sacred occasion, a special Shri Vishnu Sahasranama Path and Tulsi Dal Archana will be performed at the holy Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand. During this divine ritual, the thousand sacred names of Lord Vishnu will be collectively recited, and sacred Tulsi leaves will be offered to Lord Badri Vishal. Tulsi is considered especially dear to Lord Vishnu, and offering Tulsi leaves with devotion is believed to invite His blessings, fulfill righteous desires, and earn immense spiritual merit.
During this special ceremony, a personalized Sankalp will be taken in the devotee’s name and gotra, and prayers will be offered to Lord Vishnu for good health, relief from physical suffering, prosperity, spiritual growth, and a righteous life for the devotee and their family. If you seek Lord Vishnu’s divine blessings, spiritual merit, good health, and lasting happiness, participating in this sacred ritual at Badrinath Dham on Yogini Ekadashi is considered highly auspicious and spiritually rewarding.
Situated on the sacred banks of the Alaknanda River in Uttarakhand, Shri Badrinath Dham is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is often known as the “Vaikuntha on Earth.” It is one of the four sacred Char Dham shrines and an important destination of the Chota Char Dham Yatra. According to Hindu belief, worshipping Lord Badri Vishal here helps remove sins, promotes spiritual growth, and leads the devotee toward liberation (Moksha).
Badrinath Dham is also one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Sacred sites such as the Tapt Kund, Brahma Kapal, and the Nar-Narayan Mountains further enhance the temple’s spiritual significance. For centuries, millions of devotees have visited this divine shrine seeking Lord Vishnu’s blessings for liberation, prosperity, family well-being, and freedom from past karmas.
Hindu tradition also regards Badrinath as a sacred Moksha Dham, where it is believed that the Lord’s darshan helps free devotees from the cycle of birth and death. The Brahma Kapal shrine is considered one of the holiest places for performing ancestral rites (Pitru Tarpan), and according to tradition, even the Pandavas performed rituals for their ancestors here. Nearby, the sacred Tapt Kund remains naturally warm throughout the year despite the freezing climate and is considered an essential place for ritual purification before entering the temple.
