According to the scriptures, on this auspicious day, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu enters Yoga Nidra (divine cosmic sleep) for four months, marking the beginning of the holy period of Chaturmas. Shri Vishnu Sahasranama, found in the Anushasana Parva of the Mahabharata, is the sacred hymn comprising the thousand divine names of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that its sincere recitation destroys accumulated sins, calms the mind, removes obstacles, and invokes the divine blessings of Lord Vishnu. Likewise, offering Tulsi leaves is regarded as one of the most beloved forms of worship for Lord Vishnu. Scriptures state that even a single Tulsi leaf offered with pure devotion pleases the Lord and brings the fulfillment of sincere prayers.
