Every Tithi of Pitru Paksha is considered significant for remembering departed ancestors and performing Shraddh and Tarpan in their honour. According to tradition, Dwadashi Shraddh is especially observed for ancestors who passed away on Dwadashi Tithi.
Dwadashi is also a Tithi closely associated with the worship of Lord Vishnu. Therefore, remembering one’s ancestors while worshipping Lord Vishnu on Dwadashi during Pitru Paksha is regarded as a special opportunity to pray for their satisfaction, spiritual peace and Sadgati.

Located in the Himalayan region of Nepal, Muktinath Temple is a sacred Teerth of Lord Vishnu. In religious tradition, Lord Vishnu is associated here with his Mukti Narayan form, and the region is revered as ‘Mukti Kshetra.’ Because of its association with Moksha and spiritual liberation, Muktinath holds special significance in the Vaishnava tradition.
The Muktinath region is also known for its sacred water streams and Shaligram tradition. During Pitru Paksha, performing Puja, Tarpan and Deepdaan for one’s ancestors at this sacred Mukti Kshetra is associated with prayers for their satisfaction, spiritual peace and Sadgati.
