Located in the Himalayan region of Nepal, Muktinath is a sacred Dham of Lord Vishnu. In religious tradition, it is revered as ‘Mukti Kshetra’, and Lord Vishnu is associated here with his Mukti Narayan form.

While Ekadashi holds special significance for the worship of Lord Vishnu, Muktinath is spiritually associated with Mukti and Moksha. During Pitru Paksha, remembering one’s ancestors with devotion and performing Puja and Tarpan in their honour are regarded as important Pitru Karmas. Til Tarpan is considered an important part of Pitru Karma. During this ritual, water and black sesame seeds are offered while remembering departed ancestors with devotion.

At Muktinath, lamps will be offered in the names of departed ancestors with prayers for their spiritual peace, Sadgati and Moksha, along with ancestral grace and blessings upon the family.

On the sacred occasion of Pitru Paksha Ekadashi Shraddh, a Sankalp will be taken in your name and Gotra at Muktinath Temple, followed by the Pitru Dosha Nivaran Mahapuja.
